About Me

What is a family anyway?  In olden days we were bombarded with happy happy images of clans such as the Cleavers and it’s easy, when we say family, to let our minds default back to stereotypical concepts of mommy and daddy  in love and baby makes three… and then four… and then maybe five and beyond.  But no.

Family is more than a rubber stamp or cookie cutter.  Even in the days of June and Ward we still had My Three Sons and Andy Griffith.  The early 70′s then brought us The Bradys.  And things have continued to evolve from there.  Despite hyper conservative (and I don’t mean  political views) naysayers the accepted definition of a healthy and happy family has grown by leaps and bounds.  We are no longer a society of traditional, nuclear homes.  Widowers, widows, divorcees, two dads, two moms, blended families, families of just siblings, single parents from the start… the media has shown us every possible scenario and we have embraced them all. Family, simply put, is the people you love and who love you back and there is no longer a magic formula for the right look.

I am single mother of one, by divorce, trying to add a number two, by choice.  And this  is the story of my family.
